Rockets fired near Karzai meeting

FARAH, Afghanistan, April 8 (UPI) -- Militants fired two rockets on western Farah province near a gathering attended by Afghan President Hamid Karzai Monday, security officials said.

The missiles landed approximately 1 mile away from where Karzai was meeting with the families of victims of last week's attack in the province where at least 56 people died and more than 100 others were injured, Khaama Press reported.

There were no reports of injuries as a result of Monday's attack, a security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said.

Karzai condemned Wednesday's attack on a courthouse in Farah and called on authorities to find and arrest those involved, Khaama Press reported.

Taliban insurgents claimed responsibility for Wednesday's attack.
