MACAO, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- A ferry heading to Hong Kong Saturday collided with a buoy, injuring 27 passengers, police said.

The collision occurred about 15 minutes after the ferry departed in the Macao Outer Harbor, China's official Xinhua news agency reported.

The ship - which was carrying 175 passengers and eight crew members -- returned to dock after the collision.

Of the 27 passengers who were injured, 25 were transported to a hospital, mostly for treatment of bruises and scratches, police said.
