The prime minister and her government have been handling the massive flooding in the country since July.

"The premier is suffering from food poisoning. She will be under observation at the hospital at least until this (Tuesday) evening. She is now better but appears tired," said Arthit Jiaranaisilawong, assistant director of Rama IX Hospital in Bangkok, the Nation reported.

"If her condition is better, she could be discharged from the hospital today. If not, the doctors would like to examine her again tomorrow."

The report said doctors suspect Yingluck's condition may have been caused by seafood she had on Monday, the report said.

The prime minister was scheduled to visit Vietnam Wednesday but the trip would depend on her condition, the doctor said.

All her Tuesday appointments were canceled. Her weekly Cabinet meeting Tuesday was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit, the Nation reported.

She missed another Cabinet meeting earlier this month after being stranded in Sing Buri province where she was visiting flood victims, the report said.
