WASHINGTON, May 2 (UPI) -- Uber drivers will pick up and deliver clothing donations to local Goodwill locations for free Sat., May 2.

Donors in over 50 cities across the United States including Miami, Phoenix, New York and San Francisco can use the app to beckon the nearest Uber driver, who will then retrieve donations and bring them to the secondhand superstores in honor of spring-cleaning.

The promotion is also taking place internationally with other charities in cities like Amsterdam, Doha St. Petersburg and Stockholm according to a statement.

"This innovative and exciting partnership demonstrates Uber's commitment to local communities on a national and international scale," Kim Zimmer, chief marketing officer and senior vice president of global development of Goodwill Industries International said in a press release. "This collaboration has made Spring cleaning and donating an easy task, while ensuring that their clothing is not only diverted from landfills, but also goes toward supporting efforts to put people back to work."

In order to take advantage of today's free service, patrons should bag up the items they intend to give away in bags, open the Uber app and request 'GIVE' at the bottom of the screen.
