Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Amazon says it received 238 proposals from cities and regions from North America seeking to land the retail giant's second headquarters.

On Monday, Amazon released a map of North America that shows all the locations interested in attracting the headquarters and posted on Twitter "the team is excited to review each of them!"

States not making bids include Arkansas -- the home of Walmart -- Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont and Wyoming.

Little Rock, Ark., placed a full-page ad last week in The Washington Post that said "our lack of traffic and ease of getting around would be totally wrecked, and we can't sacrifice that for you."

Cities had until last week to submit a proposal for the new headquarters, known as HQ2.

Last month, Amazon announced plans for a new campus it said would bring as many 50,000 jobs and more than $5 billion in investments.

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos said the new complex will "be a full equal to our Seattle headquarters."

The company estimates it's added $38 billion to Seattle's economy this decade.

Among the requirements for the new campus: A metropolitan area with more than 1 million people close to an international airport and accessible through public transit, a "stable and business-friendly environment," and "urban or suburban locations with the potential to attract and retain strong technical talent." Amazon has said that incentives like tax breaks would factor into its decision.

Among those vying for the headquarters was Stonecrest, Ga., which said it will rename itself "Amazon" if it is selected.
