"I will be announcing my decision on Paris Accord, Thursday at 3:00 P.M. The White House Rose Garden. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!" he said on Twitter.

Earlier, Wednesday, unnamed U.S. sources said Trump had decided to withdraw from the pact signed by 195 countries. The climate change agreement encourages a focus on measures meant to curb global warming to less than 2 degrees Celsius by the end of the century.

In a May 2016 speech in North Dakota outlining his energy policies, Trump accused President Barack Obama of entering the accord "unilaterally and without the permission of Congress."

"This agreement gives foreign bureaucrats control over how much energy we use right here in America," he said.
