Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Donald Trump addressed the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday, his fifth time at the event, but his first as president of the United States.

Trump was the first president to speak at the conservative grassroots conference in his first year in office since former President Ronald Reagan in 1981.

"We have a very important guest today!" CPAC tweeted Friday morning.

Other scheduled speakers include National Rifle Association executive Wayne LaPierre, former British Independence Party leader Nigel Farage, who is a member of the European Parliament, and U.S. journalist Katie Pavlich.

On Thursday, key White House officials including Kellyanne Conway, Chief Strategist Steve Bannon, Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and Vice President Mike Pence spoke at the conference.

In his keynote address, Pence criticized Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, former President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act and the mainstream news media.
