'Pokemon Go' players shot, robbed in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, July 26 (UPI) -- Two Pokemon Go players were shot early Monday when a gunman tried to rob their group at a park in Las Vegas, police said.

One of the players pulled a gun in defense and gunfire was exchanged. Both players shot have non-life threatening injuries, said police spokeswoman Laura Meltzer.

About 4 a.m. Monday, six people were at the park playing the game that leads players along real world locations to catch animated Pokemon characters on their screen.

As the group played, two others drove up, a teen and a man who was armed. The two told the group to give up their possessions. One of the players had a concealed weapons permit, drew his weapon and each side opened fire.

The suspected robber and one of the Pokemon players were shot. Both were taken to University Medical Center for their injuries, police said.

The suspect and another person were arrested. Police are investigating the incident.
