OKLAHOMA CITY, June 30 (UPI) -- Fire crews rescued riders of a roller coaster at an Oklahoma City amusement park after the ride's cars were stuck at the top of the track's highest crest.
Cars on the Silver Bullet ride at the Frontier City amusement park stalled Wednesday afternoon during the ride's lift phase, losing momentum to proceed down the roller coaster's first hill from a height of nearly 100 feet. Riders in the rear seats were rescued by park personnel, but eight people in the forward seats, including seven children, required the help of the Oklahoma City Fire Department.
It took more than an hour to rescue those stuck on the roller coaster. Fire crews distributed water and ice packs to those waiting at the top of the ride, and all riders were escorted to the ground without injury.
A statement, after the incident, from Frontier City said an investigation into why the ride stalled will begin.
