"Winning the Powerball jackpot is a life-changing event. Congratulations to the ticketholder(s) and to the retailer who sold it," Carole Hedinger, New Jersey Lottery's executive director, said in a released statement. "This is the seventh largest Powerball jackpot in history."

New Jersey Lottery officials said they won't announced the name of the winner or exact location of the retailer until proper security procedures are in place.

The jackpot's last winner came on March 2. A 67-year-old Pennsylvania man bought tickets with his brother in Florida while on vacation. He won $294 million; his brother won $7.

In January, three winning tickets split the $1.6 billion Powerball prize -- the largest pot in history.

The chances of winning the Powerball jackpot are one in 292.2 million.
