NEW YORK, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- A man shot and killed an employee at a Home Depot in New York before turning the gun on himself, police say.
The New York Police Department received reports of the shooting at a Home Depot on 23rd street in Manhattan at 2:45 p.m. on Sunday.
NYPD spokesmen said a 31-year-old male, believed to be the gunman, was found inside the store with a single gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead. The victim, a 38-year-old man with gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital but died of his injuries.
Police found a .38-caliber pistol at the scene. A NYPD spokesman said the gunman had been an employee of the store at some point, and that the identities of both men will be released later.
No one else was hurt in the shooting, though the store was reportedly packed with shoppers preparing for more heavy snow fall on Monday and Tuesday as a blizzard sweeps in from the Midwest.
