NORWALK, Conn., Oct. 15 (UPI) -- A Connecticut state trooper shot and killed a man who stabbed two passengers on a bus headed to the Mohegan Sun casino.

The bus was on Interstate 95 in Norwalk late Tuesday when the man became violent. Passengers said he pulled out what was described as a "cutting instrument" and began attacking passengers.

The driver pulled into a construction area where the trooper confronted the man and ordered him to put the weapon down.

"The suspect advanced toward the trooper in an aggressive manner with the cutting instrument," State Police Lt. J. Paul Vance said.

A passenger was also shot in the leg. The injured passengers and their alleged attacker were taken to Norwalk Hospital.

I-95 northbound, a major route between New York and Boston, was closed until about 6 a.m. Wednesday. The bus operated by Dahlia Tours and Travel began its trip in New York.
