Ohio school shooter T.J. Lane breaks out of Ohio prison

T.J. Lane, the school shooter from Chardon, Ohio has escaped from prison.

LIMA, Ohio, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- T.J. Lane, the teen who killed three students at an Ohio high school in 2012, has escaped from prison.

The 19-year-old Lane -- who is serving a life sentence -- escaped from the Allen Correctional Facility just before 8 p.m. Thursday.

The Lima Police Department said Lane is on the run with another inmate, Clifford Opperud, 45. Opperud is convicted of aggravated robbery, burglary and kidnapping, according to prison records.

According to Sgt. Andy Green, three inmates initially escaped, but one was caught a short time later.

The men are reported to be wearing prison blues and police are treating them as potentially armed and dangerous.

Police are also warning people to not pick up hitchhikers or open their doors to strangers.
