CLEVELAND, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Police say they have identified the bullies who dumped a bucket of feces on an autistic teenager as a joke.

Authorities in Bay Village, Ohio, are not yet releasing the names because the investigation is ongoing, said Police Chief Mark Spaetzel.

"We are conducting a comprehensive investigation," he said.

The pranksters apparently tricked the 15-year-old boy into doing what he thought was the "ice bucket challenge" for ALS. The teen's mother said she found the video of her son, standing in his underwear, while someone on the roof dumped a bucket of urine, feces and spit over his head.

She said the bullies had used her son's phone to film the prank.

"He was embarrassed because he did not know what the contents were until afterwards, and then he didn't want anybody to know," she told WJW-TV. "They used his phone to tape it, and they put it up on Instagram."

The incident took on wider notice after comedian Drew Carey, a Cleveland-area native, offered $10,000 for a reward to catch the perpetrators.

Soon, Jenny McCarthy and her husband, Donnie Wahlberg, both said they'd pitch in.

It's unclear if anyone has earned the rewards.
