DALLAS, July 15 (UPI) -- Pizza Hut has partnered up with Hershey's to help create a new dessert dish that will allow pizza-lovers to indulge their sweet teeth – a pizza cookie.
The new "Ultimate Hershey's Chocolate Chip Cookie" debuted on Monday and the idea is that the eight-inch pie will appeal to younger customers.
"Millennials tell us it's what they want," Pizza Hut Chief Marketing Officer Carrie Walsh told USA Today. "They like to cap off a great pizza with a great dessert."
The cookie's eight slices are ideal for sharing and it costs $5.99 on its own and $4.99 with a pizza purchase.
"You never get a pizza for yourself. Now, you take a chocolate chip cookie and make it communal -- and you've got a party," said PMQ Pizza Magazine publisher Steve Green.
The chain decided to introduce the cookie after a survey revealed that 70 percent of customers eat dessert after having pizza and that "a cookie was on top of the list for what they want."
Look for more Hershey-branded desserts to roll out in the future.
"Rather than one-off just a cookie, we entered into a partnership with the premier chocolate company in the world," Pizza Hut spokesman Doug Terfehr told Bloomberg Businessweek.
