PORT CHARLOTTE , Fla., June 19 (UPI) -- A Florida mom is accused of branding her two children with a hot stick so she would be able to recognize them as her own.
According to a report from NBC 2, Kayla Oxenham also allegedly branded the children so they could have ice cream.

The 23-year-old has been charged with child abuse for intentionally burning her 5-year-old and 7-year-old on their arms with a hot stick that she heated with a lighter.
The children informed police that their mother told them she "forgot how much she loved fire."
Oxenham is also accused of grabbing her 5-year-old daughter by the hair and smashing her head into a wall.
The medical assistant was released on a $15,000 bond.
