CLINTON, Ark., June 3 (UPI) -- A truck carrying logs tipped over on a bridge in Arkansas, spilling its load onto construction workers and killing two, police said.
More than 20 construction workers were hurt. Van Buren County Sheriff Scott Bradley said some walked away with scrapes and bruises but others had broken arms and legs.
"When I arrived at the scene there were guys down everywhere with broken limbs, some of them pinned underneath the logs," Bradley told KTHV in Little Rock.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene and another died after being taken to a hospital.
The crash Monday afternoon occurred near the intersection of U.S. 65 and Arkansas 16 East, just north of Clinton, where 65 crosses the Little Red River.
U.S. 65 was shut down for hours while the logs were cleared from the roadway.
