FLORENCE, Ariz., May 19 (UPI) -- A Republican candidate for Arizona's First District publicly stated his belief that virtually all the perpetrators of mass shootings in the Unites States are left-leaning Democrats.

Speaking at a GOP primary debate Saturday, Arizona businessman Gary Kiehne said if it was not for the fight against gun control, President Barack Obama "would be after us pretty hard." He went on to state that the cause of gun violence, specifically mass shootings, lies exclusively within the Democratic party.

It's totally ridiculous if you look at all of the fiascos that of occurred, 99 percent of them have been by Democrats pulling their guns out and shooting people. So, I don't think you have a problem with the Republicans.

The primary will be held on August 26th. The winner will face off against incumbent congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick.
