Burglary suspect fatally shot by Maryland state troopers at rest area

ABERDEEN, Md., March 21 (UPI) -- State police shot and killed a burglary suspect at a Maryland House Travel Plaza Friday after the man rammed a police car injuring an officer and fled.

Aberdeen, Md., police went to a Target store to investigate a burglary report and saw a suspect fleeing the store, the Baltimore Sun reported. The man rammed his vehicle into an Aberdeen police car, injuring the officer and leaving the police car unusable.

State police said the driver rammed other state police and Aberdeen police vehicles as they pursued him along Interstate 95. At the I-95 southbound entrance ramp to the rest stop area, police shot at the driver, who was airlifted to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit and the state's attorney's office in Harford County were reviewing the incident.
