JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Feb. 11 (UPI) -- The Florida man charged with killing a teen in a dispute over loud music testified Tuesday he feared for his life after he thought the victim pulled a shotgun.
Michael Dunn, 47, is accused of killing Jordan Davis, 17, in a Jacksonville, Fla., gas station parking lot after the two argued about the volume of music in the sport utility vehicle Davis and three friends were seated in.
Dunn, testifying on his own behalf after four days of prosecution witnesses, said he approached the teens calmly and asked them to turn down the music, CNN said. He said he was met with an expletive-laced rant and verbal threats, HLNtv reported.
The confrontation escalated as Dunn's wife was inside the store and he waited outside. Dunn said he saw Davis stick something he thought was a shotgun barrel outside the window before exiting the car and approaching him shouting threats.

It was then Dunn said he pulled his own concealed handgun, firing nine shots and killing Davis.
Police said there were no weapons in the SUV and Davis was unarmed.
"After the continued threat of, 'You're dead, [expletive],' now the door opens and this young man gets out and as his head clears the window frame he says, 'This [expletive] is going down now,'" Dunn said. "This is the point where my death is imminent he's coming to kill me, he's coming to beat me ... he made it clear what his intentions were."
During cross-examination, prosecutors hammered Dunn for driving away after the incident and not calling police.
He didn't approach law enforcement until the following day, but did manage to order a pizza for him and his wife to eat later that night.
"You're right, it sounds crazy and I couldn't tell you what I was thinking when all this happened I can just tell you I didn't [call the police]," Dunn said.
