DETROIT, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- A Detroit man arrested during a home invasion is suspected in three sex assaults during which women were burned with a blowtorch, police said.

The unidentified suspect, 24, was inside a home when the occupant called police. When officers arrived the man and an accomplice were still inside and were taken into custody, the Detroit News reported Saturday.

The suspect matched a description given by the victim of a sexual assault that took place Wednesday. The woman said she was walking down the street when the man grabbed her, took her hostage, ripped off her clothes, raped her then burned her with the torch.

The suspect's vehicle also matched the victim's description.

Police said they suspect the man is responsible for two similar sexual assaults last year involving a blowtorch.
