Iowa professor charged after laptop porn flap

IOWA CITY, Iowa, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Police said an Iowa college professor allegedly falsely reported a school laptop stolen because it was due to be replaced and contained pornography.

Brent Sandy, 55, a music professor at the University of Iowa, told police the laptop had been stolen out of his office Jan. 13. The school's IT department traced the missing computer's IP address to Sandy's home, where police executed a search warrant and recovered the device, along with a small quantity of marijuana, the Iowa City Press-Citizen reported Monday.

Police said the computer was going to be replaced but Sandy did not want to turn it in because it contained pornographic images.
