CHICAGO, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- A 25-year-old military veteran was arrested at Chicago's Midway Airport for allegedly trying to board a plane with a loaded gun, officials said.
Josephine M. Coleman of Country Club Hills was arrested Saturday and charged with boarding an aircraft with a weapon, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Cook County Circuit Judge James Brown ordered her held Sunday in lieu of $25,000 bond.
Authorities say Coleman was carrying a Smith & Wesson handgun loaded with seven live rounds in her carry-on bag as she tried to get to her Southwest Airlines flight to San Antonio. A Transportation Security Administration X-ray machine allowed TSA agents to see the gun and prevent Coleman from boarding her flight.
Police said Coleman said she didn't know the gun was in her bag.
