CLEVELAND, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- An Ohio judge who sentenced a woman to at least 31 years in prison for killing her son said it was "unforgivable" for her to toss the boy's body in a dumpster.
A jury convicted Camlila Terry, 21, last month of beating her 3-year-old son Emiliano to death and putting his body in a dumpster near her Cleveland apartment.
Terry initially called police and reported her son had disappeared from a local park in November 2012. She said later she woke up and found him dead. On yet another occasion, police said, Terry told them an abusive former boyfriend drugged her and killed the boy.
When the boy's body was found at a trash transfer station, police said it was wrapped in numerous garbage bags.
"The gross abuse of Emiliano's corpse was unforgivable," Common Pleas Judge Janet Burnside said in sentencing Terry, the Plain Dealer in Cleveland reported Thursday.
She could serve life in prison without parole.
