Teen with loaded Uzi submachine gun arrested in Richmond, Calif.

RICHMOND, Calif., Dec. 11 (UPI) -- A suspect, 15, who allegedly pulled a loaded Uzi sub-machine gun from his waistband as Richmond, Calif., police chased him has been arrested, police said.

The unidentified youth, who had an outstanding arrest warrant against him, was spotted on a street Monday by officers. As he fled and they gave chase, the boy pulled the weapon from his waistband, Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.

A Twitter comment from Richmond Police Chief Chris Magnus noted the boy ran to the home of an acquaintance. It read, "Loaded Uzi taken from 15yr ... Youth barricaded himself, but talked out. Impressive work."

Police said they did not know how the teen acquired the weapon. He was arrested on the outstanding warrant and on suspicion of possessing a firearm, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.
