DEDHAM, Mass., Nov. 5 (UPI) -- The owners of Gillette Stadium, the Massachusetts home of the New England Patriots, have settled a lawsuit by the family of a young woman killed in a car crash.
The terms of the agreement announced Monday between the Kraft Group and Debra Davis' family were not disclosed, The Boston Globe reported.
Davis, 20, was a passenger in a car that crashed after a 2008 concert at the stadium. The driver, Alexa Latteo, 19, who was also killed, was found to have a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit when she struck a tree off Route 1 only a mile from the stadium.
In their lawsuit, MaryAnn and Steve Davis of Milton, said the Kraft Group was negligent for failing to enforce rules against underage drinking in the parking lot. They also said Kraft, after announcing a 2007 ban on anyone entering the lot without a ticket to an event, did not take any action.
Douglas Fox, one of the Kraft lawyers, argued at a hearing last year Davis, Latteo and another young woman who was injured in the crash did not have tickets to the concert and were therefore trespassing when they drank in the parking lot. A judge ruled at that hearing the case could go to trial.
