NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- The 52-year-old father of Hot Boys rapper Turk was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Central City, La., officials confirmed.
Tab Virgil Sr. died early Wednesday from internal injuries and several fractures suffered when he was hit, The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune reported.
The driver fled the scene.
"My daddy was a good person," said Tab Virgil Jr., 32, who is best know for being part of the New Orleans rap group Hot Boys with Lil Wayne and Juvenile in the 1990s. "He was always happy, always making you laugh. Everyone around Uptown knew him. He never bothered anybody. He'll be missed by our family and the community of New Orleans."
Police are investigating the incident and searching for the driver of the car.
"That could have been anybody's father," the younger Virgil said. "It just happened to be mine. This should be an eye-opener. I just want the driver to come forward so we can get some closure."
