Suspect arrested in shooting death of customer during bank robbery

RENO, Nev., Oct. 17 (UPI) -- A 66-year-old man has been identified as the person who shot and killed a customer during a bank robbery in Reno, Nev., police say.

Police Lt. Amy Newman said Van McDuffie has been charged with bank robbery with the use of a dangerous weapon causing death, the Reno Gazette-Journal reported Wednesday.

The male customer, whose identity has not been released, was shot when he tried to intervene during a robbery of a Bank of America Wednesday morning, police said in a statement

The suspect, wearing a heavy coat and a ski mask, was tackled by police near a bus stop at the mall, witnesses said.
