Ex-Oklahoma State fraternity member accused of pulling gun on pledges

STILLWATER, Okla., Oct. 1 (UPI) -- A former Oklahoma State University student has pleaded not guilty to charges he pointed a gun at the heads of fraternity pledges.

Owen Edward Hossack, 22, a former member of the school's Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, allegedly rode with pledges to a bonfire initiation event in August, used a handgun to intimidate two fraternity pledges in the car with him, and after asking if they would "take a bullet for their fraternity brothers," shattered a window of the vehicle by firing the gun, court records said.

He was arraigned Monday on two counts of pointing a firearm with intent to threaten.

In an interview with school police, Hossack allegedly admitted the allegations were true, and said he thought the window was open as he tried to frighten the pledges, The (Oklahoma City) Oklahoman reported Tuesday.

Hossack was expelled from the fraternity and the university. Alpha Gamma Rho was put on partial probation because of the incident, the school said.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 4.
