FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Sept. 25 (UPI) -- A pregnant South Florida woman charged with neglecting a baby found buried in her yard will stay in jail until she has a place to live, a judge said Wednesday.

Yolande Georges, a native of Haiti who speaks little English, apparently became involved after meeting Sierra's mother in a fast-food restaurant.

Georges said she learned details of the matter from a Creole-speaking Herald reporter after Sierra's release.

"I'm a servant of God, but no one told me what this was all about," she told the newspaper. "I don't want anyone to trick me."

Sierra and her partner, Calvin Melvin, were arrested in January after the body of their son, Dontrell, was found buried in their back yard in Hallandale Beach. The boy is believed to have been dead for 18 months before anyone outside of the family was aware he was missing.

Investigators looking into charges the couple were neglecting their three children found only two.

Melvin and Sierra were charged with second-degree child neglect. A judge in Broward County lowered the charges against Sierra to third-degree neglect Monday at the request of prosecutors. and eliminated the requirement that she post bail.

Sierra's lawyer said at Wednesday's hearing he has one possible home for her while she waits to have her baby.
