SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- A Utah woman who allegedly got her husband to shoot a neighbor who "telepathically" raped her has pleaded guilty to reduced charges.
Meloney Selleneit, 55, of Centerville entered a guilty but insane plea to criminal solicitation and a weapons charge last Thursday, The Salt Lake Tribune reported. She entered the plea during a pre-trial conference.
Selleneit's husband, Michael, is serving two consecutive one- to 15-year sentences for attempted manslaughter and a weapons charge. He was found competent to stand trial, although a judge ruled he can be confined in a state mental hospital until he is deemed to be able to withstand prison.
Meloney Selleneit was ruled competent to stand trial in August after a year of hospital treatment.
Michael Selleneit shot Tony Pierce in 2011, saying Pierce had committed "telepathic" rape. Pierce survived the shooting.
