FORT MYERS, Fla., Sept. 15 (UPI) -- A church van rolled over near Ft. Myers, Fla., killing one person and injuring another 15 passengers, authorities said.

The van was on its way from the Maranatha Seventh-day Adventist Church to Tampa, WTVJ-TV, Miramar, Fla., reported.

One of the van's tires blew out and the driver overcompensated, resulting in the crash Saturday morning, authorities said.

"The tire blew off and then the car lost control, I tried to control it, and then it flipped over," Nola Phanor, the driver, said.

The van was following two other vehicles that were making the trip.

Passengers, including a 2-year-old girl, were transported to the hospital with both minor and serious injuries.

The fatal victim was identified as 20-year-old Nostra Damas, WTVJ-TV reported.
