WORCESTER, Mass., Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Federal prosecutors say a Massachusetts man deserves a long prison term for trying to make "vile" fantasies about child rape and cannibalism real.
In a sentencing memorandum filed Tuesday, prosecutors asked for a 27-year sentence for Geoffrey Portway of Worcester, The Boston Herald reported. Portway, 40, a British citizen who has lived for years in the United States, pleaded guilty to soliciting help with kidnapping a child and production and distribution of child pornography.
He is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Worcester.
"Portway has pled guilty to some of the most vile and heinous crimes known to our society, namely participating in the sexual exploitation of young children through the possession and distribution of child pornography and soliciting the kidnapping of a child for the purpose of killing and consuming that child," prosecutors said.
They cited Portway's online chats with men who had similar fantasies. Ronald Brown of Largo, Fla., a puppeteer who knew children through church work, sent Portway a photograph of a boy diagrammed to show the cuts of meat.
While there is no evidence Portway harmed any children, he built a dungeon in his house in Worcester and investigators found a child-size coffin there, the report said. Prosecutors released photographs of both with the memorandum.
Portway developed his own idea from the correspondence, prosecutors said. He told Brown he could open a mortuary and steal the bodies of boys destined for cremation, providing fake ashes.
