BELFAIR, Wash., Aug. 28 (UPI) -- A former PTA leader faces federal charges he shot a child rape video in an elementary school in Belfair, Wash., and posted it on the Internet, authorities say.
David M. Navarro, 38, who had been the vice president of the PTA at Belfair Elementary School, was arrested Friday and made his initial appearance in U.S. District Court this week on a charge of producing child pornography and two related counts, seattlepi.com reported Tuesday.
Federal prosecutors allege Navarro videotaped the sexual assault of an 8-year-old girl. It's presumed he is the rapist seen in the video, seattlepi.com said. It appears from an analysis the iPhone video of the assault was made in May.
The online newspaper said court documents indicate Navarro was linked to a 2012 FBI child pornography investigation. It wasn't clear whether he had been prosecuted in that case. He was charged with child sexual assault in 2009 by San Diego authorities but the charges were dropped, seattlepi.com said.
