WASHINGTON, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama Friday plans to sign a bill cutting student loan interest rates and then hold a news conference at the White House.

The daily press schedule issued by the White House indicates Obama will:

-- receive the daily briefing in the Oval Office.

-- sign bipartisan legislation cutting student loan interest rates in the Oval Office.

-- hold a news conference in the East Room of the White House.

-- meet with Secretary of State John Kerry.
