MIAMI, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- A Florida man is awaiting arraignment on charges he attacked passengers and crew members on a flight from Russia, officials said.
Pavel Nesvat could face a possible 20 years if convicted on the charges, The Miami Herald reported Friday.
In a criminal complaint filed Aug. 2, Special Agent Joel Beck of the Transportation Safety Administration said Nesvat began throwing air cream jars at other passengers about five hours into the Miami-bound flight.
When a flight attendant told him to sit down and stop hitting passengers, Nesvat groped a female passenger next to him and then attacked two flight attendants, the complaint alleges.
He put on his backpack and attempted to move forward into the plane, but was stopped by a flight attendant with whom he "aggressively" fought.
Several attendants had to forcefully secure him into his seat.
Nesvat was arrested when the plane landed in Miami.
U.S. District Judge William Turnoff set his bond at $200,000. Arraignment is set for Aug. 15.
Nesvat has dual U.S.-Russian citizenship.
