Surveillance captures woman shooting man at Houston gas station

HOUSTON, July 22 (UPI) -- Police in Houston say a woman was caught on a surveillance video camera fatally shooting a man outside a gas station then recording his body on her phone.

Lewis Daniels, 58, died at the scene following an altercation with a woman police had not identified. Video taken about 7 p.m. Sunday shows the two arguing. At some point, the woman goes to the trunk of her car and retrieves a rifle, pointing it at the man, KHOU-TV, Houston, reported Monday. The man swung his fist at the woman knocking her backward and then she opened fire.

After the man hit the ground, witnesses said the woman used her cellphone to either photograph or shoot video of the victim, police said.

A knife was also found near the man's body though it wasn't immediately clear whether it had been brandished by either individual during the attack.

The woman fled the scene but a witness recorded her license plate and gave the information to police who apprehended her and brought her in for questioning.

Daniels' brother told KHOU the victim likely didn't know the woman.
