Boy airlifted to Florida hospital after fall on cruise ship

ORLANDO, Fla., July 5 (UPI) -- Paramedics airlifted a 12-year-old boy to an Orlando, Fla., hospital after he fell on Carnival's Sensation cruise ship while at sea, officials said.

The boy, whose name was not reported and who was later released from the hospital, fell Wednesday and was cared for by the medical team on the ship until it docked Thursday at Port Canaveral, Fla., the Orlando Sentinel reported Thursday.

The nature of the fall was not reported.

"The child was airlifted via helicopter this morning to a shoreside medical facility when the Carnival Sensation arrived in Port Canaveral following a four-day cruise," a statement from cruise officials said Thursday. "The child has been released from the hospital and is returning home with his family. Carnival is providing assistance and support to the child and his family."
