JOSHUA, Texas, June 5 (UPI) -- A girl in Joshua, Texas, was accidentally shot and killed on her 13th birthday when a gun her brother was cleaning discharged, police said.
Emilee Bates was shot in the stomach Tuesday evening, her birthday, when a gun her brother, 19, was cleaning, discharged. She died after being airlifted to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, The Dallas Morning News said Wednesday.

The type of firearm involved was not identified.
The incident is being treated as an accident and no charges are expected to be filed, said Lt. Tim Jones, spokesman for the Johnson County, Texas, Sheriff's Department.
