Train, bus collide in Decatur, Ga.

DECATUR, Ga., May 22 (UPI) -- Passengers aboard a bus stalled on the tracks in downtown Decatur, Ga., early Wednesday escaped injury when the vehicle was struck by a train, officials said.

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority bus was hit by the train at a crossing near Decatur High School, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported, and was wedged between the train's engine and the roadway safety crossing arms, which were toppled in the collision.

Fire crews said the bus stalled on the train tracks but the driver managed to evacuate his passengers before the collision.

No injuries were reported.

MARTA spokesman Lyle Harris said the accident is under investigation.
