Marvell Edmondson, 19, died and Jauwan Holmes was missing, police said.

Edmondson and Holmes were carried in the river current at 1:30 a.m. and other members of the group called 911 for help, investigators said.

The body of Edmondson, 19, was found in the river Monday, ABC News reported. A memorial service was conducted for him Wednesday.

Search and rescue teams were searching for Holmes.

"It's been a very very long road for us," Kim Edmondson, Marvell Edmondson's mother, told WVEC-TV, Norfolk, Va. "We went for three days not knowing if my child was in that river."

Police said they charged James Mackey Sr., 35; Eriq Benson, 19; Cory Baytop, 26; and Charles Zollicoffer II, 29, with hazing.

Authorities said they had arrested three of the individuals but were searching for Zollicoffer.
