Casino, Obama library raised as options for ex-Chicago hospital site

CHICAGO, April 19 (UPI) -- A casino-entertainment complex, a convention hotel and an Obama presidential library were presented as possible anchors for a development project in Chicago.

The possible projects were suggested Thursday during a community meeting on Chicago's Near South Side on the mixed-use development of the former Michael Reese Hospital, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The planners involved in developing the project also suggest incorporating the McCormick Place truck yards east of the site to connect the land by walkways for access to the lakefront.

Chicago bought the 48-acre site in 2009 as the potential location for an Olympic athletes' village.
