3 House Republicans to attend Thatcher funeral

WASHINGTON, April 15 (UPI) -- Reps. Marsha Blackburn, Michele Bachmann and George Holding will represent the U.S. House at Margaret Thatcher's funeral, Speaker John Boehner said Monday.

Meanwhile, with the conservative former British prime minister's funeral set for Wednesday in London, the Obama administration had yet to designate its official delegation.

"I have no information," White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters at his daily afternoon briefing. "I expect that we'll have something for you relatively soon. But I can't even put a time on that. Once we do, we'll be sure to let you know."

Boehner said in a statement the funeral for Thatcher, who died last week at 87, was an opportunity to pay final respects to "one of the greatest champions freedom has ever known."

The Washington Post reported Boehner's office said in keeping with budget constraints, Blackburn, R-Tenn., Bachmann, R-Minn., and Holding, R-N.C., would travel on commercial aircraft to England.
