Man's daughters hit by 2 separate cars

PHILADELPHIA, March 11 (UPI) -- A Philadelphia man says two of his daughters were injured in separate hit-and-run incidents two days apart from each other.

Jim Givens was giving a statement to police Saturday night about the incident his 10-year-old daughter Sarah was involved in when he received a phone call informing him that his 14-year-old daughter, Kylie, had been struck by a hit-and-run driver, the Philadelphia Daily News reported.

"Two daughters in two days. I just couldn't believe it. It's crazy," Givens said Sunday.

Sarah, who was hit by a truck on Thursday afternoon, suffered two fractures in her tibia and bruising on her hips, the news report said.

Kylie, who was struck by a white sedan Saturday night, had to have her spleen removed and suffered internal bleeding and arm and leg injuries, her stepmother Nina Doxzon said. The driver who hit her apparently stopped about a block later and walked back to see Kylie sprawled on the ground, Givens said.

"Why can't these people be grown-ups and turn themselves in?" Jim Givens asked. "They're just cowards. Cold and heartless."

"I'm angry and exhausted," Givens said. "I just don't know why they didn't stop. Accidents happen. But when you leave, it's not an accident anymore. It's now just a heartless person trying to get away."
