CHICAGO, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Groupon Inc. said Monday it stopped offering deals having to do with guns indefinitely.

The Chicago company said gun-related coupons were "under review following recent customer and merchant feedback," the Chicago Tribune reported.

Groupon made no mention of recent mass shootings such as the one in Newtown, Conn., and did not say how long the ban on gun-related deals such as discounts for shooting ranges, conceal-and-carry training and clay shooting would last.

The move didn't sit well with some affected businesses. The newspaper said some media outlets cited a Texas gun shop owner who called for a Groupon boycott after he said the website dropped his coupon for a concealed handgun training course.
