Neighbors complain of smell, San Francisco bacon restaurant shut down
SEATTLE, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Nearly 100 shorebirds were killed on a beach in Washington state when a vehicle drove into a flock, officials said.
The incident happened Thursday around 1 p.m., NBC News reported.
The Department of Fish and Wildlife officials were called to the scene where 92 Dunlin shorebirds were found dead.
Investigators have said that a vehicle has to be traveling much faster than the posted 25 mph speed in order to hit these types of birds, KING-TV, Seattle, reported.
Seabirds and shorebirds are protected under law, and a $500 reward has been offered to anyone with information leading to the arrest of anyone involved in the incident.
