Girl falls from float, run over, injured

MURRELLS INLET, S.C., Dec. 3 (UPI) -- An 8-year-old South Carolina girl fell from a float and was run over and seriously injured during a Christmas parade, officials said.

The girl was riding on a float being pulled by a pickup truck in the Murrells Inlet Christmas parade Sunday afternoon when she fell, The (Myrtle Beach) Sun News reported.

She was then run over by the float, Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones said.

The girl was airlifted to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in serious but non-life-threatening condition, Jones said.
