LOS ANGELES, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- A series of storms on the West Coast caused power outages and travel delays and advisories were posted for high surf and rip currents, officials said Friday.

Heavy rainfall was expected in some areas, particularly in the north.

Ventura and Los Angeles counties were expected to get waves of six to 12 feet, possibly 15 feet, forecasters said.

Several storm systems will continue through Sunday night,, KTLA-TV, Los Angeles reported.

Advisories for high surf and a high risk of rip currents were posted for Orange, Ventura and Los Angeles counties.

In northern California, western Oregon and western Washington, storms had already caused travel delays and power outages, Accuweather reported.

"The cumulative effect of the storms has the potential to bring flash, urban and stream flooding, as well as mudslides and debris flows to northern California," Western weather expert Ken Clark said,

"In the Santa Cruz Mountains, the mountains in the North Bay region, in the foothills and mountains east of the Sacramento Valley and northernmost San Joaquin Valley, eight to 12 inches could fall with local amounts of 16 to 18 inches," Clark said.
