TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 30 (UPI) -- A Florida woman on trial in the slaying of a lottery winner claimed in court she went into anaphylactic shock while in jail overnight.

Dee Dee Moore, 40, facing life imprisonment if convicted in the shooting death of Abraham Shakespeare in 2009, told Judge Emmett Battles in a Tampa, Fla., court room Thursday she went into shock in her jail cell the previous night.

"I was having anaphylactic shock, sir, because they gave me a medicine called Bactrin for a kidney infection. I had an allergic reaction to it, and my tongue swelled up really bad last night and they admitted me into the infirmary," she said.

Moore is accused of befriending Shakespeare, 47, after he won $30 million in the Florida Lottery. She agreed to help manage the little that remained after he spent most of it, but instead, prosecutors say, she stole his money and killed him, ABC News reported Thursday.

She denies the accusations. Her trial began Monday.
