WASHINGTON, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- The head of the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee said there did not appear to be any security breaches stemming from the CIA director's secret love affair.

Sen. Diane Feinstein, D-Calif., said Sunday her committee received no advance notice that the FBI had uncovered evidence of an affair between Director David Petraeus and another woman and that the news was "like a lightning bolt."

"There are a number of things that one has to consider, the first of which was there any kind of national security breach," Feinstein said on "Fox News Sunday." "To date, there was not."

Feinstein said she wished the committee leadership had been tipped off that Petraeus was resigning so they could better prepare for this week's hearings on the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

Petraeus had been invited to testify at the closed-door session; however, his presence was uncertain, Feinstein said. "With respect to calling former Director Petraeus before the committee, that will be a committee decision," she said.
